Peer Engagement Specialist

Department: HIV Early Intervention Services
Location: New York, NY

BASIC FUNCTION: Peer Engagement Specialist will be responsible for engaging existing clients and encouraging their entry into the specialized service enhancement track - Wellness Early Intervention Program, an HIV Early Intervention program.

MAJOR DUTIES:

 Conduct screening for eligibility, identify clients in need.

Schedule clients for initial intake session and deliver Wellness Self-Management sessions to clients.

 Engage clients in the wellness process, allaying concerns.

Work closely with other WEIP staff regarding implementation concerns and issues of cultural competency.

 Performs other duties as requested or assigned.

QUALIFICATION - EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Certified as Peer Specialist REQUIRED.

 Experience with the drug treatment environment and the particular risks related to long-term opiate use.

Demonstrated skills in engagement.

SCHEDULE: Full-time schedule
